After capturing the hearts of Istanbul locals as the beloved "commuter dog," Oji has finally found a new home. The Chairman of Koç Holding, Ömer Koç, has officially adopted the famous pup, according to an announcement made by Istanbul Mayor, Ekrem Imamoğlu.

The furry canine had recently been staying at a shelter operated by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) due to the cold weather in the city. Imamoğlu shared the news of Oji's adoption on Twitter, expressing gratitude to Koç and ensuring that the dog would now have a new home where he could freely run and be protected from potential harm.

Although Oji brought joy to millions with his viral photos and videos, he became the target of a smear campaign after a social media photo surfaced, allegedly showing him defecating on a tram seat. However, security footage later revealed that the incident was a setup by an unknown individual who intentionally placed excrement on the seat.

Notably, Koç Holding is also the driving force behind SemtPati, an innovative app that helps connect animal lovers with stray animals in Istanbul. The app includes a database for every animal in each neighborhood, information on local caretakers, and contact information for nearby veterinarians.
