Central Bank of Türkiye Reports TL 72 Billion Net Profit for 2022

  • 27 March 2023

The Official Gazette reported on Friday that the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) generated a net profit of TL 72.02 billion ($3.78 billion) in 2022, an increase from its TL 57.5 billion profit in 2021.

The CBRT's tax liabilities for 2022 amounted to TL 22.3 billion, according to the balance sheet.

The CBRT previously announced that it had donated TL 30 billion from its 2022 profit to support earthquake relief efforts in the southeastern region of Türkiye, which was hit by two major quakes on Feb. 6.

After the bank's annual general assembly on March 28, 2023, it plans to transfer the previous year's profits to the Treasury within a few days, assuming there are no delays or legal provisions.

The 91st Fiscal Period Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the CBRT will take place both electronically and physically in Ankara, during which the 2022 dividend distribution and proposals regarding the balance sheet, profit and loss account, and profit distribution will be discussed.

The bank will also appoint two new board members and three new supervisory board members during the general assembly meeting.

In 2021, the CBRT distributed TL 45 billion as advanced dividends and TL 4.3 billion as reserve funds from its 2020 profits to shareholders, including the Treasury.
