  • 09 February 2023

Istanbul's Sultanbeyli district is set to unveil two major tourist attractions, Aydos Castle and Sultan Grove, after 12 years of restoration. The castle, also known as Keçi Castle, is a significant historical site located on Aydos Hill and is considered the starting point of the conquest of Istanbul. The castle was built during the Eastern Roman period in the 11th to 12th century and offers a stunning view of the region due to its high altitude.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will be inaugurating the Aydos Castle and Sultan Grove on Friday, Feb. 3, at Sultanbeyli City Square. The Sultan Grove is dubbed as "a breath of Istanbul" and is designed to be a natural habitat for Istanbulites, especially those living in Sultanbeyli. The grove offers various activities and amenities such as walking and cycling paths, a biological pond, children's playgrounds, picnic areas, a prayer room, a shopping mall, and aesthetic fountains.

In addition, the Sultan Grove includes a Nature Books Library and observation terraces, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to engage in outdoor activities and enjoy the fresh air. The project is expected to contribute to making Sultanbeyli a center of attraction and a hub for tourists in the region.

In conclusion, the reopening of Aydos Castle and Sultan Grove is a major event for the city of Istanbul and marks a significant milestone in the restoration of the city's historical and cultural heritage. The location is set to offer visitors an unforgettable experience and an opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich history and natural beauty of Istanbul.
